AOTNS: Princess Gypsy of the Forest

Gypsy is the tall and graceful Princess of the Great Tree Hive. She's smooth and sassy, and loves the finer, fancier things in life. She has a voice like honey and doesn't hesitate to use it; she loves to sing. She's the second tallest of the changeling leaders, after Titania, but she's also one of the youngest. She can be a little overbearing and a bit narcissistic, but she really means well. Her carefree ways have earned her hive the nickname of the Dancer's Hive.

Gypsy's hive lives in a huge, magically grown tree in a forest in the east of Equestria, where they have built their homes and a town in graceful wood and amber. Their home is quite remote and they are the most elusive and mysterious changelings to the outside world.

The Great Tree Hive changelings are the most lightly-built of all changeling types, with elaborate shell patterns and colourful manes and tails. Their magic is the strongest and most sophisticated of all changeling types. They can hold their assumed form in almost any circumstance. Their antennae make them extremely alert to the changing of the weather and even the tiniest scent particles, giving them heightened perception that might even appear psychic. Their wings are a bit weak, comparatively, and they prefer gliding leisurely to any sort of speedy flight.

These changelings feed on a range of strong emotions, preferring joy and infatuation. Acting like sirens in the woods, the changelings take very attractive forms and lure in travelers or those lost in the woods. Setting up an elaborate celebration of dance, song and food, the changelings feed on the positive emotions of the partygoers that are kept there for a few days using their magic. Those who don't catch on to the changeling ruse are let go without incident; those that do are placed placed under a hypnosis spell to get them back out of the woods and their memories of the changeling party are wiped. Another method is to, again taking very attractive forms, infiltrate pony towns as a local bard, storyteller, etc. to feed. Lastly, the Perpetual Party is a happenstance farm of affection that provides the Great Tree Hive with a steady supply of food. Some ponies may choose not to leave the party once drawn in, or may be accidentally ensnared in the magic of a young changeling unable to control the strength of their powers. These ponies are very-well cared for, but usually are unable to ever return to the outside world and will party forever.
